Question 6. What is grace?

Answer Grace is a favor.  In the N.T. it is usually the favor that God gives. ASV Eph 2:8 for by grace have ye been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, (it is) the gift of God; This verse says that we are saved through faith, and that salvation is a gift of God, or favor from God.   It is also clear that the favor of salvation is not from ourselves - it is not a gift given because we deserve it or have earned it.

In another place the N.T. says, ASV Tit 2:11 For the grace of God hath appeared, bringing salvation to all men, 12 instructing us, to the intent that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly and righteously and godly in this present world; Certainly all men will not be saved (Matt. 7:14), so the grace that appeared is Jesus Christ.  Those who live as that grace instructs - soberly, righteously and godly - will be saved.

Therefore, grace is God's part in salvation.  It is a favor, not earned.  He sent Jesus Christ to live a perfect life, die as a perfect sacrifice for our sins.   Our part in salvation is to obey Jesus Christ, living as he instructs.

Question 7. What is the difference between an apostle and an disciple? Are they one in the same?

Answer All apostles were disciples, but not all disciples were apostles. The word "apostle" simply means "messenger" or "one who is sent."

The apostles in the New Testament were specifically commissioned by Christ to go "throughout the world" to preach the gospel. Wherever they went, they taught people who obeyed the gospel and became disciples.  Contact Michael
